Shefali Jariwala’s Sudden Death: Did Anti-Ageing Drug and Fasting Cause Fatal Blood Pressure Drop?
Actor best known for “Kaanta Laga” music video collapsed at home, police await post-mortem report
Popular television personality and actress Shefali Jariwala, 42, passed away on Friday night at her Mumbai residence in Oshiwara, sparking shock and sorrow across the entertainment industry. She was rushed to Bellevue Multispecialty Hospital in Andheri by her husband Parag Tyagi and three others, where doctors declared her brought dead.
Suspected Cardiac Arrest, Sudden BP Drop
While the official cause of death is pending, preliminary medical opinions suggest that a sudden drop in blood pressure may have triggered a cardiac arrest. According to police, Shefali had been fasting all day for a Satyanarayan pooja held at their home. After breaking her fast with food prepared the previous day, she began feeling unwell.
“She was shivering, and her BP dropped rapidly. Despite being taken to the hospital immediately, she couldn’t be revived,” a police source revealed.
Anti-Ageing Medication and Empty Stomach Suspected as Contributing Factors
Police sources disclosed that Shefali had taken her regular vitamins, skin glow tablets, and an anti-ageing injection earlier that day, medications she had reportedly used for years. However, these were taken without medical prescription, as per family statements.
“Taking such supplements or injections on an empty stomach may have worsened her condition,” added an officer familiar with the investigation. Two boxes of tablets were recovered from her home, and forensic experts collected samples of the medicines and the injection she took on Friday afternoon.
Police Investigation Underway, No Foul Play Suspected
According to Deputy Commissioner of Police, “Prima facie, there is no foul play.” An Accidental Death Report (ADR) has been registered, and police have questioned at least eight people, including her husband, household staff, and security personnel.
Shefali’s body was sent to Cooper Hospital for a post-mortem. The final medical report is awaited to confirm the exact cause of death.
