Solapur: Air services between Solapur and Mumbai are set to begin soon, following the state government’s approval of financial support under the Viability Gap Funding (VGF) scheme, similar to the central government’s UDAAN initiative.

Minister of State for Civil Aviation and Cooperation, Murlidhar Mohol, announced that discussions with airlines were initially stalled due to financial concerns. However, with the support of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the cabinet has now cleared the VGF scheme to make the air service possible.

Mohol expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Ministers Fadnavis and Ajit Pawar for facilitating this decision. The new air route will enhance connectivity between Solapur and Mumbai, with plans to link other cities to Solapur under the UDAAN scheme as well.
