Pune, September 30, 2025: The Combined Entrance Test (CET) for admission to civil services preparation programmes under six autonomous state institutions began as scheduled on Monday and Tuesday. However, in a relief to students from flood-hit regions of Maharashtra who could not appear for the exam, the authorities have decided to conduct a special re-exam.

In a circular issued on Monday, the Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Research and Training Institute (Barti) confirmed that a supplementary CET will be organised soon, with the revised timetable to be announced on its official website. “This step ensures that aspirants facing difficulties due to heavy rains will not lose their opportunity,” said Sunil Ware, director-general of Barti.

Each year, more than one lakh students appear for this CET, which serves as the entry point for free training and financial assistance offered by six institutions—Barti, Anna Bhau Sathe Research and Training Institute (Arti), Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Research, Training and Human Development Institute (Sarthi), Tribal Research and Training Institute Pune (TRTI), Academy of Maharashtra Research, Upliftment & Training (Amrut), and Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Research and Training Institute (MahaJyoti). These centres provide coaching for prestigious exams including UPSC, MPSC, IBPS, and SSC.

Several aspirants from Kolhapur and other flood-affected districts said reaching exam centres was nearly impossible due to waterlogging and disrupted transport. One candidate said the re-exam decision has prevented them from losing a year of preparation, while another added that the move would benefit hundreds of students who prepare for the CET with dedication throughout the year.
