Pune: More than 1,000 schools in Maharashtra State are operating fraudulently, with 800 bogus schools already reported. Inspections of schools with irregularities are ongoing, and the state education commissioner has emphasized the need to take strict action against such schools.

Accordingly, the Commissioner of Education department of Maharashtra State has issued a directive to all deputy directors of education to take action against fraudulent schools operating in the state. The deadline for taking action has been set for April 25, with no extensions given. The directive comes in response to reports of fake no-objection certificates, fire NOCs, and land lease agreements submitted by school managements, leading to the uncovering of a widespread bogus school scam across the state.

He has also instructed deputy directors to verify the validity of documents submitted by these schools and submit a final report by April 18th to ensure compliance.

“We urge parents to visit the school and verify its credentials before admitting their child,” said Commissioner Mandhare. “It has come to our attention that more than 1,000 schools in the state are operating fraudulently, and we are taking strict action against them after thorough verification of documents submitted by these schools.”

The commissioner has also highlighted the importance of ensuring that students do not suffer due to the actions taken against these schools. He has suggested admitting affected students in nearby schools to minimize any disruptions to their education.
