Jalna: A man playing cricket on Christmas Day in Maharashtra’s Jalna collapsed and died of a suspected heart attack. The victim, Vijay Patel, a resident of Nala Sopara near Mumbai, was participating in a match at Dr. Fraser Boys Ground as part of the Christmas Trophy tournament.

The incident occurred around 11:30 am when Patel, walking to the crease, experienced uneasiness and collapsed. Despite immediate attempts to revive him using CPR, he could not be saved.

32-year-old hit huge six before collapsing, an eyewitness said. He was admitted to the nearby hospital for treatment, but doctors declared him brought dead. A video of the incident surfaced on social media. In a viral video, it can be seen that Patil was discussing a game plan during the cricket match while he was on strike for the next ball. He walks towards the crease to play. He feels unwell and suddenly lowers his body next to the ground; seeing this player on the field, he rushes to see him in shock.

This tragedy follows a similar incident earlier this month in Mumbai, where a 31-year-old techie collapsed and died of a heart attack while playing cricket at Azad Maidan. The victim had reportedly continued playing despite experiencing chest pain.

Such cases highlight the growing concern over sudden cardiac incidents, particularly during physical activities.
