Sunburn Festival Moves to Mumbai After 18 Years in Goa
EDM giant begins a new chapter; Mumbai to host 2025 edition with upgraded experiences
After 18 unforgettable years in Goa, Sunburn Festival, Asia’s biggest electronic dance music event, is relocating to Mumbai for its 2025 edition. Organisers have announced the dates as December 19, 20, and 21, promising a grander experience under the theme “Ascend: Beyond the Real.”
This marks the first full-scale shift of the festival from its original coastal home, with organisers stating that Sunburn is evolving “from a destination to a state of mind.”
What’s New?
- Venue: Mumbai (exact location to be announced)
- Theme: Ascend: Beyond the Real — an immersive format with next-level production and stage design
- Ticket Sales:
- August 12, 12 PM: Early access for RuPay Credit Card holders via BookMyShow
- August 14, 12 PM: General ticket sales open to all
Reactions Pour In
While many fans welcomed the change, calling it a bold and exciting move, others expressed nostalgia for the Goa setting.
“Goa wasn’t just a venue, it was a feeling — the breeze, the sand, the stories,” wrote DJ Sartek.
DJ Teri Miko added, “Finally!!!!! Awesome news.”
Social media reactions ranged from emotional to enthusiastic:
- “Would love to travel to Mumbai instead of Goa, well done, Sunburn.”
- “Great move, Sunburn, as Goa experience was very bitter, trust me.”
Why the Shift?
Organisers say the transition reflects Sunburn’s growth beyond being destination-dependent, aiming to deliver a more scalable, immersive, and accessible experience. Mumbai, already hosting global acts like Lollapalooza, is seen as a natural choice for the festival’s next evolution.
Since its debut in 2007, Sunburn has brought global names like David Guetta, Martin Garrix, and DJ Snake to Indian audiences.
Though Goa will no longer be the festival’s home, organisers insist it still holds sentimental value.
