The star wife has approached Bandra Family Court citing adultery, cruelty, and desertion; Govinda yet to respond to allegations.

Actor Govinda and his wife Sunita Ahuja’s marriage has hit troubled waters. After years of speculation, reports now confirm that Sunita has filed for divorce under Section 13 of the Hindu Marriage Act, citing serious allegations including cheating, cruelty, and desertion. The case is currently being heard in Bandra Family Court, where Govinda has reportedly been absent despite being summoned.

According to reports, Sunita Ahuja filed her divorce petition under Section 13 (1) (i), (ia), and (ib) of the Hindu Marriage Act, 1955. The petition accuses Govinda of adultery, cruelty, and desertion. The court had summoned the actor on May 25, and since June, both parties have been attempting reconciliation. While Sunita has consistently appeared in court, Govinda has reportedly missed several hearings.

In a recent vlog, Sunita addressed the divorce rumours emotionally while visiting Mumbai’s Mahalaxmi Temple. Breaking down in tears, she recalled how she once prayed for her marriage with Govinda and a happy life together. She added that while the Goddess had blessed her with children and fulfilled many wishes, life had also brought hardships. Sunita expressed her faith that divine justice would protect her against those trying to “break her home.”

The couple has been living separately for years, sparking speculation about their marriage. Sunita further fueled rumours after dropping Govinda’s surname. Earlier this year, however, she had dismissed reports of a split, even as insiders claimed growing differences and Govinda’s alleged closeness to a much younger Marathi actress were straining the relationship.

Their lawyer, Lalit Bindal, also a family friend had earlier suggested that while divorce papers had been filed six months ago, reconciliation was underway. “Govinda and Sunita are going strong and will always be together,” he said at the time.

Despite the ongoing case and serious allegations, Govinda has not yet publicly responded. The proceedings in Bandra Family Court will continue in the coming weeks.
