Prashant Jagtap Says “Vote Theft Will Be Exposed”
Pune, July 21, 2025: The Supreme Court has cleared the way for a recount of votes in the Hadapsar Assembly constituency following allegations of irregularities during the Maharashtra Assembly elections held in November 2024.
Prashant Jagtap, the Nationalist Congress Party (Sharadchandra Pawar faction) candidate from Hadapsar, had raised objections over the counting process and demanded a fresh recount. Acting on these concerns, the Election Commission had earlier approved a recount of 27 EVM and VVPAT machines. However, it had instructed officials to erase actual polling data from the machines and conduct the recount using mock poll data.
This directive was challenged in the Supreme Court by Jagtap and several others. The apex court has now ruled in their favour, allowing a full recount of the actual votes cast during the elections. The recount will take place at the Bhosari godown from July 25 to August 2.
Expressing gratitude to the Supreme Court, Prashant Jagtap said, “The vote theft in Hadapsar will finally come to light before the world.”
