Hinjawadi, Pune | July 29, 2025 — Amid persistent traffic congestion in Pune’s Hinjawadi IT Park, MP Supriya Sule has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, urging the state government to coordinate with IT companies in the region and allow work-from-home for their employees until a concrete solution is found.

In her letter, Sule emphasized the need for companies to offer flexibility to employees working in Hinjawadi, which is part of the Rajiv Gandhi IT Park—a globally recognized tech hub. She stated that the ongoing traffic gridlock, along with poor roads, water and power supply issues, and inadequate infrastructure, is significantly affecting daily commuters and residents in nearby areas like Maan, Marunji, Jambhe, Gahunje, Nande, Lavale, Pirangut, and Bhukum.

She further suggested the establishment of a dedicated administrative authority—either a Special City Development Authority or an Industrial Township Authority—for the structured and long-term development of the region. Such an institution, she argued, would enable better fund management, service delivery, and integrated urban planning.

To address the existing coordination gaps between agencies, Sule recommended appointing a dedicated nodal officer to liaise between bodies such as MIDC, PMC, Metro, PMRDA, MSEDCL, PWD, and the police department. Acting on this suggestion, the Pune Divisional Commissioner has now been designated as the single-point authority.

Until a viable traffic solution is implemented, Sule has strongly advocated for IT companies to adopt a hybrid work model. This would significantly reduce the pressure on local transport infrastructure while providing relief to employees and easing planning efforts for local authorities.

She concluded by urging the government to take a positive view of this suggestion and coordinate with local companies to facilitate this temporary arrangement.
