Pune: In a major push towards green energy, Tata Power Renewables has rolled out its flagship ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ campaign in Pune, introducing a special Independence Day offer to make solar rooftop systems more affordable and accessible to residents. With this new initiative, Tata Power is stepping up efforts to promote clean energy adoption in line with the government’s PM Surya Ghar Yojana.

Under the new offer launched by Tata Power Solaroof, customers in Maharashtra can now get started with a rooftop solar system by paying just ₹1,947 as a symbolic gesture to commemorate the year of India’s independence. The remaining amount can be financed through convenient loan options that cover nearly the entire cost of the system. Monthly EMIs begin at ₹2,369 for a 2 kWp system, with repayment terms of up to 60 months. The scheme also includes instant digital loan approvals and a free one-year solar insurance policy from Tata AIG.

In addition to this, homeowners can also benefit from central subsidies under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, which offers ₹30,000 per kW for the first 2 kW and ₹18,000 per kW for the next 1 kW, with a maximum subsidy of up to ₹78,000. Tata Power Solaroof has tied up with 15 leading financial institutions — including SBI, Bank of India, Canara Bank, Bank of Baroda, Union Bank of India, and Indian Bank — to make financing seamless and hassle-free for consumers.

At the launch event in Pune, Dr. Praveer Sinha, CEO and MD of Tata Power, reaffirmed the company’s commitment to transforming India’s energy landscape through solar adoption. “Our goal is to achieve six lakh rooftop installations across the country by the end of this year,” he said. Focusing on Maharashtra, he added that Tata Power plans to install 800 MW of rooftop solar capacity in the state over the next three years.

As of July 2025, Tata Power Solaroof has already achieved a significant milestone in Maharashtra with a cumulative rooftop solar installation capacity of 775 MWp, catering to 27,910 customers. In Pune alone, where the company already operates 200 MW, it aims to add an additional 250 MW in the next three years. Alongside capacity expansion, Tata Power also plans to bring on board 1,000 new channel partners and retailers across the state to strengthen its solar network.

Beyond just solar panels, the Independence Day scheme introduces two innovative lifestyle energy solutions:

MySine: A compact solar system with integrated battery backup, offering uninterrupted power for homes.

Solar Design Spaces: A collection of 25 aesthetically designed rooftop solar structures to blend with modern architectural styles.

Sanjay Banga, CEO and MD of Tata Power Renewable Energy Ltd (TPREL), emphasized that the campaign is designed to make rooftop solar energy more approachable and affordable for households. “Through this initiative, we aim to empower families with high-quality, dependable, and easy-to-adopt solar solutions that come with long-term support and peace of mind,” he said.

To further accelerate adoption, the company is launching a mass awareness campaign to educate consumers on the financial, environmental, and practical benefits of switching to solar. Tata Power Solaroof also backs its products with a 25-year module warranty, lifetime service support, nationwide presence, and insurance coverage—making it a trusted name in the sector for over a decade.

In a significant development, Tata Power has also applied for a power distribution licence in Pune and nearby areas including Haveli, Maval, Mulshi, and Khed. Dr. Sinha confirmed the application has been submitted to the Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) and is currently under review. “Yes, we are firmly establishing our presence here. MERC will conduct a public hearing as part of the process,” he said.
