Mumbai, July 25, 2025: A Muscat-to-Mumbai flight turned into an unforgettable experience on Thursday when a Thai passenger went into labour mid-air and delivered a healthy baby boy aboard an Air India Express flight.

The dramatic yet successful delivery took place with the help of an onboard nurse, who was traveling as a passenger, and the cabin crew, who quickly stepped in to assist. “The moment the Thai national experienced labour pains, the crew acted promptly, utilizing their emergency training to create a safe and compassionate space for the delivery,” Air India Express said in an official statement.

Upon receiving the alert, the pilots contacted Air Traffic Control and requested priority landing in Mumbai. By the time the aircraft landed, a medical team and ambulance were ready on the tarmac. Both the mother and newborn were swiftly transported to a nearby hospital. A female airline staff member accompanied them to ensure continued support and care.
