Mumbai, September 28, 2025 — The much-awaited trailer of Thamma, the next chapter in Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Horror-Comedy Universe (MHCU), was unveiled today at a grand event in Mumbai. Featuring a star-studded cast including Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna, Paresh Rawal, and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, the film promises to deliver a thrilling blend of horror, comedy, folklore, and romance. Stree actor Shraddha Kapoor was also present at the launch.

Directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, known for Munjya, Thamma is described as a “bloody love story” rooted in forgotten Indian legends. Produced by Dinesh Vijan and Amar Kaushik, the film is set to hit theatres worldwide on October 21, 2025, coinciding with Diwali.

A Glimpse Into the Trailer

The trailer introduces Rashmika Mandanna as Tadaka, a mythical figure revived from a thousand-year-old legend, Nawazuddin Siddiqui as the sinister Yakshasan, and Ayushmann Khurrana as Alok — a man cursed with bloodshot eyes, no pulse, and a body vulnerable to sunlight. The visually striking teaser ends with an intense romantic exchange:
“Reh paogi mere bina, sau saalon tak?” asks Ayushmann’s character. Rashmika replies, “Sau saal kya, ek pal ke liye bhi nahi.”

Makers and Cast React

Dinesh Vijan, producer and founder of Maddock Films, said:
“With Thamma, we wanted to take the Horror-Comedy Universe to its next stage — in scale, ambition, and technology. This is a forgotten Indian story revived for both Indian and global audiences.”

Ayushmann Khurrana shared his excitement about joining the franchise:
“Alok is a flawed, vulnerable man forced to confront extraordinary circumstances. What excites me is that Thamma is an entertainer families across generations can enjoy.”

Rashmika Mandanna added:
“Thamma is special because it combines horror, comedy, folklore, and love. Playing Tadaka, an ancient legend reborn, has been challenging and exciting.”

Director Aditya Sarpotdar said:
“If Munjya tapped into folklore, Thamma takes it forward in a wilder way. It’s scarier, funnier, and at its heart, a twisted love story.”

About the Film

Thamma is written by Niren Bhatt, Suresh Mathew, and Arun Falara. The ensemble cast includes Faisal Malik, Geeta Aggarwal, Diana Penty, Sanjay Dutt, and Vijay Raaz. Actor Varun Dhawan reprises his role as Bhaskar/Bhediya in a cameo, while Malaika Arora and Nora Fatehi make special appearances in songs.

Filming began in December 2024 across Delhi, Mumbai, and Ooty, wrapping up in mid-2025. The music has been composed by Sachin–Jigar.

With its Diwali release, Thamma marks the fifth installment in Maddock’s Horror-Comedy Universe, expanding the franchise into darker, grander territory.
