A car lift malfunction trapped a couple in a Thane highrise; they were rescued within 30 minutes by local firefighters and the RDMC team.
A couple was safely rescued after their car got stuck in an automobile lift at a highrise in Thane, Maharashtra, on Saturday night, an official confirmed on Sunday.
The incident occurred around 10:48 PM in a 20-story building in the Shastri Nagar area. The couple’s four-wheeler became trapped in the three-tier mechanical car lift of the highrise, which includes three floors for car parking in addition to residential units.
Local firefighters and members of the Regional Disaster Management Cell (RDMC) promptly responded and successfully rescued the couple within 30 minutes. No injuries were reported.
Chief of the civic disaster management cell, stated that the exact cause of the malfunction is yet to be determined.
The highrise, which features a stilt area, three mechanical car park floors, and 13 residential floors, relies on modern parking systems. This incident highlights the potential risks associated with advanced mechanical systems in urban infrastructure.
Further investigations are underway to determine the reason for the mishap and ensure safety measures are reinforced.
