Sharing the teaser on X (formerly Twitter), Agnihotri wrote:
“PRESENTING: From the makers of The Kashmir Files & The Tashkent Files: THE BENGAL FILES – Teaser Out Now. If Kashmir hurt you, Bengal will haunt you. In cinemas on 05 September 2025.”
The teaser begins with a haunting declaration:
“Main ek Kashmiri Pandit hoon, isliye yakeen ke saath keh sakta hoon ki Bengal ek dusra Kashmir banta ja raha hai.”
(I am a Kashmiri Pandit, and therefore, I can say with full confidence that Bengal is turning into another Kashmir.)
This statement sets the tone for what follows, an intense exploration of historical events such as Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots, which rocked undivided Bengal in the 1940s.

Originally titled The Delhi Files: The Bengal Chapter, the film was renamed following an online poll in which 99% of respondents supported the title change. Agnihotri explained that while the original name was meant to reflect political decisions made in Delhi that affected Bengal, the new title better aligns with the film’s central focus and audience sentiment.
The film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Pallavi Joshi, Anupam Kher, and Darshan Kumar in key roles. Written by Vivek Agnihotri and produced by Abhishek Agarwal and Pallavi Joshi, the film promises a gripping portrayal of real events and unsung heroes like Gopal Patha Mukherjee.
Audience Reactions
The teaser quickly gained traction on social media.
One user posted: “It hits like a bomb, shaken my soul to the core.”
Another added: “For the first time, real heroes of Bengal like Gopal Patha are shown to the world! Pulsating! Looking forward!”
The Bengal Files is set to release in theatres on 5 September 2025, and is expected to ignite conversation around forgotten chapters of Indian history, just as its predecessors did.
