In a recent global ranking of the world’s top 100 airports by aviation consultancy Skytrax, only four Indian airports have made the cut. Among them, New Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport is the only one to secure a spot in the top 50, ranking at 32nd place. While no Indian airport made it to the top 20 list, the latest rankings show a notable improvement in their global standing compared to previous years. The Skytrax World Airport Awards 2025, known for evaluating airports based on passenger satisfaction, services, and overall experience, have revealed these latest positions.

Delhi Airport Leads Indian Contenders

Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport stands as the highest-ranked Indian airport this year. Known for its modern terminals, efficient immigration processes, cultural art displays, and strong connectivity, it has climbed from 36th place in 2024 to 32nd in 2025.

Interestingly, despite its 32nd rank on the Skytrax list, Delhi Airport has been trending on social media as part of the global top 5 in terms of popularity, and has secured the top spot among Asian airports in certain user-based rankings.

Other Indian Airports in the Top 100

In addition to Delhi, three more Indian airports have featured in the top 100 list:

Kempegowda International Airport, Bengaluru – Ranked 48th, up from 58th last year. The airport is lauded for its nature-inspired Terminal 2, lush green spaces, and aesthetic design.

Rajiv Gandhi International Airport, Hyderabad – Now at 56th place, it has risen from last year’s 59th position. The airport is appreciated for its cleanliness, courteous staff, and smooth passenger experience.

Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai – Making a significant leap from 95th to 73rd, Mumbai Airport is recognized for its impressive architecture and artistic interiors.

Steady Climb for Indian Airports: All four Indian airports in the list have shown consistent improvement in their global rankings, indicating efforts to enhance infrastructure, services, and overall passenger satisfaction.

Singapore’s Changi Airport Tops the World Again

Retaining its crown, Singapore’s Changi Airport has once again been named the Best Airport in the World, marking its 13th win. Known for its luxurious experience, seamless design, and entertainment facilities, Changi feels more like a tourist destination than a transit hub.

Passengers can check in up to 48 hours before their flight, shop at the iconic Jewel mall, relax in themed gardens, explore a butterfly sanctuary, and admire the world’s tallest indoor waterfall—the 40-meter-high Rain Vortex. The airport also houses spas, hotels, art galleries, a dinosaur-themed park, and even cinemas.

This year, Changi also bagged top honors for Best Dining, Best Washrooms, and Best Airport in Asia.

According to CNN, Changi Airport is expected to invest over $2 billion in future expansion, with its fifth terminal set to open in the 2030s.
