Pune, April 11, 2025: In anticipation of large gatherings for the Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti celebrations on Monday, April 14, the Pune Traffic Police have announced a series of traffic diversions across the city. The arrangements are aimed at ensuring smooth vehicular movement and avoiding congestion in key areas expected to witness heavy footfall.

Thousands of followers are expected to visit the statue of Dr. Ambedkar near the District Collector’s Office, prompting rerouting of traffic in several busy localities including the Collector Office area, Camp (Aurora Towers), Dandekar Bridge, and Vishrantwadi.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic), Amol Zende, has appealed to citizens to use alternate routes and cooperate with authorities to maintain order.

Key Traffic Diversions:

  • Mangalwar Peth: Traffic from Shahir Amar Shaikh Chowk towards Maldhakka Chowk will be diverted via RTO Chowk and Jahangir Hospital.
  • RTO Chowk: Vehicles heading to Maldhakka Chowk should use Tadiwala Road and Jahangir Hospital route.
  • Collector’s Office: Traffic from GPO towards the District Collector’s Office will be rerouted via Kirad Chowk and Nehru Memorial Chowk. Similarly, vehicles from Pune Station will be diverted.
  • Somwar Peth: Traffic from Narpatgiri Chowk to Maldhakka Chowk will be redirected via 15 August Chowk, Kamla Nehru Hospital, Pawale Chowk, and Kumbharves.
  • Banerjee Chowk: Vehicles heading towards Shahir Amar Shaikh Chowk will also face diversions.

Additionally, traffic control measures will be implemented near the Dr. Ambedkar statue in the Camp area and in Vishrantwadi due to large-scale celebrations.

Authorities have urged motorists to plan their travel in advance and follow traffic police instructions to avoid inconvenience.
