Pimpri, 11 September 2025 – Pimpri-Chinchwad Traffic Police have temporarily restricted two-wheelers on the Hinjawadi-Wakad flyover at Bhujbal Chowk as part of an experimental traffic management plan. The move, implemented from Thursday morning, aims to ease congestion on the narrow flyover, which lacks a central divider.

According to Hinjawadi Traffic Inspector Rahul Sonawane, the restriction will remain in place for at least two weeks. Two-wheelers are barred from using the flyover during peak hours — from 8 am to 11 am and 5 pm to 9 pm. The route, a key connector between Hinjawadi and Pimpri-Chinchwad city, also serves vehicles entering Hinjawadi Phase 1 from the Pune highway.

Since no official circular was issued, many commuters were caught off guard. The police had only announced the change using loudspeakers.

  • Riders from Hinjawadi heading to Wakad should take a left turn and a U-turn from the Sayaji underpass (also about 50–100 metres extra).
