Tragic Incident in Harihareshwar: Intoxicated Tourists Run Over Homestay Owner’s Sister After Confrontation
In a shocking incident in Harihareshwar, Shrivardhan, three intoxicated tourists ran over a woman, killing her, following a confrontation with the homestay owner who had refused them a room. The tragedy unfolded early Sunday when four men, seeking accommodation around 12:30 am, approached Abhijeet Dhamanaskar, the homestay owner. Upon being denied a room, the men assaulted Dhamanaskar, prompting him to call for help. Villagers and relatives rushed to his aid, capturing one of the assailants while the other three fled the scene.
The captured individual was identified as 32-year-old Irappa Yamanappa Dhotre, a resident of Kasarwadi, Pimpri Chinchwad. Around 1:30 am, the other three men returned to free their friend, threatening the gathered villagers. In a violent attempt to escape, they ran over Jyoti Dhamanaskar, the 28-year-old sister of the homestay owner, leading to her death.
Raigad Superintendent of Police, Somnath Gharge, confirmed the arrests of Dhotre, Akash Govind Gawde (26), and Vicky Premsingh Gill (30), with the main driver, identified as Uttekar, still at large. The suspects, who include auto drivers and a small business owner, will be presented in court on Monday. Police are actively pursuing the remaining fugitive.
