A Reddit post has gone viral after an employee shared how they resigned following a dismissive remark from their boss.
According to the post, the employee’s manager repeatedly taunted them, saying, “Tumhare jaise log replace karna mushkil nahi.” In response, the employee decided to resign. “The next morning, I placed my resignation letter on his desk and said: ‘Best of luck, ek mahine mein replacement dhoondh lo,’” the user wrote.
The employee claimed the move immediately shifted the power dynamic. “Within two hours, I got a call from HR asking if we could discuss a counteroffer. That’s when I realised—sometimes the real power is just walking away,” they added.

The story triggered widespread discussion on toxic workplace culture. Many users warned against accepting counteroffers. One wrote, “Don’t take counter offers at all. A manager should value you before you resign, not after. They just want to squeeze the maximum out of you.”
Another user pointed out, “The counter is only because they don’t have enough time to replace you. Once you accept, they’ll eventually find someone and put you on a performance plan.”
