UGC Reveals 21 Fake Universities in India for 2025: A State-wise Breakdown

The University Grants Commission (UGC) frequently published a list of fake universities that are functioning in India. These institutions have been flagged for providing degrees without the necessary legal approval to operate. It’s crucial for students to check if their chosen university is legitimate by visiting official government or UGC websites.

Fake universities are those that wrongly claim to offer valid degrees but do not have recognition from the relevant authorities. They take advantage of hopeful students by issuing unauthorized certificates that have no real academic or professional value. These institutions often use misleading names, which can confuse students.

Recently, the UGC has announced a list of 21 fake universities in India that are active in different states and union territories.
