A mother in the UK was shocked to find a cigarette in her child’s McDonald’s Happy Meal. Gemma Kirk-Bonner, 35, discovered the unexpected item at the bottom of a packet of French fries while feeding her three-year-old son. She shared a picture of the cigarette on Facebook and reported the incident to the McDonald’s branch in Barrow-in-Furness, but claimed they did not respond.
As per the information provided, she settled her child in his high chair and proceeded to feed him. She was in the act of picking up the fish fingers for him when she observed the presence of ash and a cigarette within the box. This discovery was repulsive to her, and she became extremely angry. She expressed concern that had she given the box to her three-year-old, he would have attempted to consume it, unaware of its dissimilarity.
McDonald’s responded by stating that food safety is their top priority and they place a strong emphasis on quality control and providing the highest standard to their customers at their Barrow-in-Furness restaurant. They advised the customer to contact their customer services in order to thoroughly investigate the issue and assist them in finding a resolution.
The incident has elicited diverse responses from individuals. A Facebook user expressed their disgust stating, “Omg that’s disgusting, I’d be fuming too.” Another individual shared their disapproval, commenting, “Awful that is.” A third person described the incident as vile and emphasized their anger stating, “I would be fuming. I wouldn’t let this go lovely!”
