Sudden weather change brings relief from heat but raises concerns with heavy winds and lightning in parts of Vidarbha, Marathwada, and Central Maharashtra.

After several days of intense heat, Maharashtra is now experiencing an unexpected twist in weather. A dip in temperatures has provided some respite from the scorching sun, but the shift has also brought with it a new concern, thunderstorms, strong winds, and lightning across many regions.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), a yellow alert has been issued for 18 districts including Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahilyanagar, Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Amravati, Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Washim, and Yavatmal.

Despite the slight relief from the heat, farmers remain anxious due to the sudden storms and lightning. The temperature across the state is currently ranging between 31°C to 41°C, with noticeable fluctuations continuing today, Sunday.

The low-pressure zone stretching from the Arabian Sea across North Maharashtra, Konkan, Marathwada, down to Karnataka and Tamil Nadu has created favorable conditions for unseasonal rain. This shift has led to a monsoon-like environment across parts of the state right at the start of May.

Weather experts predict cloudy skies, gusty winds, lightning, and scattered rain in various parts of Konkan, Central Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha. Some places may experience light to moderate rainfall, while others might see heavy showers, especially in the late afternoon and evening.

As the state braces for these sudden changes, the IMD urges residents especially farmers and rural communities to stay alert and take necessary precautions
