Mumbai, April 6, 2025 — Vicky Kaushal’s blockbuster historical drama Chhaava, which hit theatres on February 14, is now set for a digital release following its successful theatrical run. According to reports, the film is expected to stream on Netflix, although an official announcement is still awaited.

Directed by Laxman Utekar and produced by Dinesh Vijan under the Maddock Films banner, Chhaava is based on the celebrated Marathi novel Chhava by Shivaji Sawant. The film chronicles the life and valor of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the second ruler of the Maratha Empire. Kaushal portrays the titular role, while Rashmika Mandanna stars as Maharani Yesubai. The cast also features Akshaye Khanna as Aurangzeb, along with Diana Penty, Neil Bhoopalam, Ashutosh Rana, and Divya Dutta.

The film has received widespread acclaim from critics and audiences alike, grossing over ₹350 crore worldwide. As per the norms of the Multiplex Association of India, a theatrical film must wait at least eight weeks before being released on OTT platforms. This suggests that Chhaava could become available online by mid-April, likely around April 10 or 11.

However, given the film’s continued strong performance in cinemas, the makers may extend its theatrical run, potentially pushing the OTT release to late April, around the 24th or 25th.
