Vintage Cars And Bikes Draw Crowds In Pimpri As Unique Voter Awareness Campaign Garners Enthusiastic Response

Pimpri, November 17, 2024: In a first-of-its-kind initiative in India, the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) organized a grand *Vintage Car and Bike Rally and Exhibition* to promote voter awareness and boost polling percentages in the Pimpri, Chinchwad, and Bhosari Assembly constituencies. The event witnessed an overwhelming response from citizens, who thronged to see rare and historic vehicles on display.

Encouraging Electoral Participation
The exhibition, part of the voter awareness campaign led by Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh and Additional Commissioner and SVEEP Nodal Officer Vijaykumar Khorate, aimed to emphasize the importance of voting. The initiative was coordinated under the supervision of Deputy Commissioners Anna Bodde and Avinash Shinde. Held at H.A. Ground in Sant Tukaram Nagar, the event drew significant attendance as citizens marveled at the rare collection of vintage cars and bikes.

“Raising voter awareness to increase turnout is the primary goal of this event,” said Additional Commissioner Vijaykumar Khorate. He reiterated that voting is a fundamental duty in a democracy. The rally saw participation from Deputy Commissioner Anna Bodde, Ramesh Dalimbe, Devendra More, Advocate Anant Patil, and numerous PCMC officials alongside vintage car and bike owners and enthusiasts.

Unique Rally and Cultural Performances
The rally commenced from Kokane Chowk, Pimple Saudagar, with Additional Commissioner Khorate and Deputy Commissioner Bodde flagging it off. It concluded at H.A. Ground, where the vehicles were showcased in the exhibition. En route, large crowds gathered along the roadside to capture the rally on their phones, with some even joining the procession for on-the-go recordings.

Adding to the vibrancy of the event, the GND Group performed dance routines urging citizens to vote, while NSS volunteers from Pratibha College and senior artists presented voter awareness-themed street plays. Many attendees also took a pledge to exercise their franchise in the upcoming elections.

A Nationwide First
“This marks the first time in India that a vintage car and bike exhibition has been used to promote voter awareness,” said Deputy Commissioner Anna Bodde, highlighting the event’s unique nature and innovative approach.

A Selfie-Worthy Attraction
The exhibition saw families, children, and senior citizens enthusiastically taking selfies with the displayed vehicles. The lineup included rare Fiat models such as the 1935 Fiat Balilla, 1955 Fiat Millicento, 1960 Fiat Select, and 1980 Fiat Premier Padmini, alongside other unique vehicles like the Fiat President 1975 and 118NE. Visitors expressed their gratitude to PCMC for providing this opportunity to experience automotive history firsthand.

A Visual Spectacle
The vintage car rally route from Kokane Chowk to H.A. Ground was lined with eager spectators capturing photos and videos. The sight of rare vehicles on city roads turned into a mesmerizing experience for onlookers, many of whom joined the rally to document the event.

Participants in the exhibition praised PCMC for organizing such a memorable event, with many pledging to cast their votes and urging others to do the same. “The opportunity to see such rare and historic vehicles is unforgettable. We are grateful to the municipal corporation and are determined to vote. Every voter must exercise their right to vote,” said one of the attendees.
