Viral clip featuring the confident fifth grader from Gujarat reignites debate on kids’ behaviour, overconfidence, and the pressures of reality TV.

A recent episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 17 (KBC 17) has taken the internet by storm — but not for the usual reasons of emotional storytelling or heartwarming exchanges. This time, it was 10-year-old contestant Ishit Bhatt from Gandhinagar, Gujarat, whose bold attitude towards host Amitabh Bachchan divided the internet.

In the viral clip, as soon as Ishit took the hot seat, he told Big B, “Mere ko rules pata hai, isliye aap mereko abhi rules samjhane mat baithna.” The megastar, visibly surprised but composed, smiled and continued. However, Ishit’s over-enthusiastic interruptions kept coming — from insisting on locking answers before hearing all options to urging, “Arre option daalo,” when Bachchan paused for dramatic effect.

Later, when asked a tricky mythology question, Ishit quipped, “Sir ek kya, uss mein chaar lock lagado,” only to get it wrong and leave without prize money. Bachchan ended the round by remarking, “Kabhi kabhi bachhe overconfidence mein galti kar dete hain.”

The episode triggered an online frenzy. Hashtags like #KBC17#AmitabhBachchan, and #IshitBhatt trended across platforms, with viewers fiercely debating whether the child’s behaviour reflected confidence or arrogance. While some criticised his tone and blamed parenting, others urged empathy, reminding that he’s only a child.

“He’s a kid. Correct him privately, don’t humiliate him publicly,” wrote one user, while another noted, “If your child has knowledge but no manners, he’ll never succeed.”

Beyond the trolling, the controversy sparked a deeper discussion about the pressures children face on television. Some viewers questioned whether shows like KBC encourage dramatics for TRPs, suggesting moments like this might even be scripted.
