A viral video capturing Indian Railways staff discarding waste from a moving train has stirred shock and widespread attention on social media. The brief yet impactful clip prompted a response from Central Railway, Mumbai Division.

@mumbaimatterz posted the video on X, revealing cleaning staff disposing of trash on the railway tracks. The footage captures the disposal of waste from black plastic bags and using a wiper to throw garbage out of the moving train onto the railway tracks.

“This seems to be the normal practice of the on-board housekeeping staff inside #IndianRailways trains. Just dump all the collected trash on the tracks from the moving train. A passenger lodged a complaint on 139 and in no time the supervisor and entire gang turned trying to find who had complained and why? Saying they aren’t paid properly, not provided enough bags to collect trash and so they are managing with meagre resources,” says the caption shared along with the video.
