Boston-based working mother faces backlash online for planning meals ahead; netizens rally in support, calling out online hate

A video shared by Madhavi, a working Indian mom based in Boston, USA, has gone viral for an unexpected reason, meal prepping. The content creator, known by her handle @madhavis_little_nook, posted a clip showing a week’s worth of home-cooked food prepared in advance. While the video struck a chord with many busy parents and working professionals, it also triggered a wave of online trolling, with some calling her “lazy” and the meals “stale.”

The video, which featured dishes like chholelasagna, and mixed veggies, has amassed over a million views. However, the intense backlash prompted Madhavi to disable the comment section on her post. “Sorry for turning off the comments because in the last few hours people are literally abusing and leaving such comments that I don’t even want to read or respond,” she wrote.

Critics questioned why she couldn’t cook fresh food daily, while some even mocked her for feeding her family “old” food. In response, Madhavi penned a heartfelt message, explaining that meal prepping is her way of coping with the overwhelming pressures of being a working mom managing work, household chores, and children’s activities.

“What’s more exhausting for me is thinking what to cook,” she shared. “That’s why I rely on meal prep! I don’t do it perfectly, but I do good enough to show myself some love and make my life a little easier.”

Madhavi’s honest post resonated deeply with many, especially among those balancing similar responsibilities. Support quickly poured in across platforms like Reddit, where users slammed the critics. One user, reposted the video saying,

“She’s a US-based creator who got hate from privileged idiots who think fresh hot food is their birthright… How dare a woman make her life convenient by preparing food in advance?”

Popular author and creator Krish Ashok, also came to Madhavi’s defence, amplifying her message and criticizing the misogynistic assumptions behind the backlash.

Many Redditors agreed that meal prepping is a smart, practical choice, especially for working families. “If she’s okay with this and her family is okay with this, why is any other person objecting?” one user questioned. Others pointed out that refrigerators are designed to keep food fresh, and prepping meals in advance is a common, efficient practice worldwide.

As more people discuss the mental and emotional labor involved in domestic responsibilities, Madhavi’s video has sparked a wider conversation about judgment faced by women who try to make their lives easier. For many, it’s not just about food, it’s about respecting choices, reducing daily stress, and reclaiming personal time in a world that often expects too much.
