Wakad-Mamurdi Road Set for Traffic-Free Commute as MLA Jagtap Fast-Tracks Works

Wakad: MLA Shankar Jagtap of the Chinchwad constituency has once again conducted an on-ground inspection of the roadworks from Bhumkar Chowk to Bhujbal Chowk, issuing directives to accelerate completion. Thanks to his consistent follow-ups, residents in the area are already experiencing some relief from long-standing traffic congestion. Road repairs, encroachment removal, pothole filling, and service line shifting have contributed to smoother traffic flow, and the remaining 50% of work is now being fast-tracked. Citizens can expect full relief from traffic snarls in the near future.

Over the past year, traffic congestion in the Wakad-Bhumkar Chowk area had become a serious concern. In response, MLA Jagtap has coordinated continuously with authorities, including the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA), Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), Maharashtra State Electricity Board (MSEB), Traffic Police, and the Regional Transport Office (RTO), implementing targeted measures to address the problem.

The follow-ups are now showing tangible results. Key steps already executed include shifting transformers and distribution points, realigning roads, filling potholes, removing encroachments, and initiating work on service roads under the NHAI’s jurisdiction.

During today’s inspection, MLA Jagtap issued urgent instructions on several matters, including: pruning and replanting road-side trees, taking over areas in front of showrooms, removing encroachments, shifting Shivneri ST bus stops, relocating PMPML bus stops, clearing containers near Tip Top International Hotel, shifting MSEB service lines, connecting relocated drainage lines, creating new carriageways for motorists, and other critical works.

Additional directives included providing a free-left turn at Bhujbal Chowk towards Hinjewadi, removing encroachments near Hotel Sonam, acquiring 45 meters of road space, reducing traffic islands, relocating PMPML bus stops, shifting MSEB transformers into cable ducts, removing hoardings near Ranjai Hotel, and conducting joint inspections to facilitate blacktopping. He also instructed NHAI to provide concrete barricades, place blocks in potholes, clear the 12-meter carriageway by Saturday, and for the Urban Development Department to take phased possession and carry out joint encroachment removal operations.

After relocating transformers at Bhujbal Chowk, MLA Jagtap ordered immediate road preparation and preventive measures to stop two-wheeler riders from crossing roads incorrectly. Other instructions included managing Shivneri bus traffic, adjusting PMPML bus stops, coordinating with authorities for pushback letters from NHAI, removing containers, replanting trees after obtaining permits, clearing bottlenecks near showrooms, and restricting weekly markets that obstruct traffic.

Officials present during the inspection included Pimpri-Chinchwad Police Commissioner Traffic In-Charge Vivek Patil, City Engineer Makrand Nikam, Assistant City Engineer Gattuwar, BRT Chief Engineer Bapu Gaikwad, MSEB Executive Engineer Mr. Munde, NHAI Executive Engineer Ghante, Assistant Engineer More, Traffic Police Inspector Mr. Sonawane, API Thorat, PCMC Regional Officer Amit Pandit, NHAI Consultant Sudhir Athalkar, DMR Project Manager Rakesh Chavan, Municipal Department Executive Engineer Vinay Owhal, Architecture Department Executive Engineer Sunil Shinde, BRT Department Sunil Pawar, Health Department Officer Shantaram Mane, and other officials.

MLA Jagtap stated, “Currently, citizens are receiving 50% relief. Within the next 15-20 days, the remaining work will be completed, ensuring 100% relief from traffic congestion.”

Thanks to MLA Shankar Jagtap’s persistent follow-up and hands-on approach, work at Bhumkar Chowk has now entered a fast-track phase, promising residents a smooth and hassle-free commute very soon.
