Watch: Locals Throw Bikes Off Flyover in Anger Over Wheelie Stunts on Busy Road
In a shocking incident, a group of frustrated motorists and residents took matters into their own hands, hurling two bikes off a flyover near Nelamangala on Thursday. The drastic measure was aimed at teaching a lesson to desperate youngsters performing reckless wheelie stunts on busy roads.
The incident, captured on mobile phone cameras and uploaded on social media, went viral within minutes, with netizens lauding the tit-for-tat action. Public anger towards such mindless acts has been growing, with wheelies becoming a common sight on highways and city roads.
The incident occurred after a stunt performer collided with another two-wheeler, causing a minor accident. Disgusted road users seized two gearless two-wheelers and hurled them from the flyover onto the service road 30 feet below.
Nelamangala traffic police registered a case on Saturday, with parents of the two youths involved residing in Mathikere and Yeshwantpur. While one parent arrived at the police station, the other youth is still being sought.
Police say wheelies are a common practice among Bengaluru youth, particularly during weekends. Increased patrolling has been implemented to check these activities.
The incident raises questions about the need for stricter measures to curb reckless driving and ensure road safety.
