An innovative initiative by a school in Baramati inspires children to reject mobile phones, voluntarily and wholeheartedly.

In today’s digital age, mobile addiction among young children has become a growing concern for parents and teachers alike. However, a group of creative teachers from Gnyansagar School in Baramati has come up with a brilliant and heart-touching solution that has left social media users across the country amazed.

A video that recently went viral on Instagram shows a classroom where a teacher tries to hand a mobile phone to students but surprisingly, not a single child reaches out to take it. What led to this powerful shift?

The transformation was achieved through a short play performed by the teachers themselves. In the video, one teacher enacts the role of a student who returns home from school and immediately throws her school bag aside to start playing games on her phone. Even when her mother serves her a meal, the girl remains glued to the screen.

The skit then takes a dramatic turn, the overuse of the mobile leads to serious consequences, and the girl begins to lose her eyesight. A doctor in the skit eventually declares her blind, and her eyes are bandaged. This emotional enactment had a deep impact on the children watching, conveying a strong message about the dangers of mobile overuse.

After witnessing the skit, the children were deeply moved and began voluntarily rejecting mobile phones. The experiment has proven to be both touching and effective.

The video was shared on Instagram by the account @baramati_city_page and has since garnered over a million views. It was captioned: “This video of young students from Baramati’s Gnyansagar School is going viral across the country!”

Social media users have praised the initiative.

One comment read, “Amazing… This is why Baramati is one of the top talukas in the country. I love our Baramati!” while another user added, “What a brilliant idea!”

This inspiring story is a reminder that with creativity, empathy, and the right messaging, children can be guided away from harmful habits not through punishment, but through understanding and awareness. This experiment is a must-try for educators and parents dealing with mobile addiction in their own homes.
