Incident raises questions about normalised anger and harassment at workplaces
A Bengaluru-based woman has shared a disturbing account of workplace harassment, alleging that her manager once threw a Dell mouse at her face in a fit of rage. The woman, who chose to remain anonymous, recalled the incident while speaking at the Tech Roast Show in Bengaluru last year.
Her testimony resurfaced recently after a video of her recounting the event was posted on Instagram, where it quickly went viral and reignited conversations around workplace toxicity in India.
“I developed severe trauma after this incident. At every company I’ve joined since then, I make it clear that issues must be conveyed with empathy, not through anger,” she said.
According to her, the manager had repeated episodes of angry outbursts, often directed at multiple employees. “He had anger issues. He did this not just to me but to others as well—even after I left,” she added.
Now working as a product designer in a healthier environment, she hopes her story serves as a reminder that such behaviour should never be brushed aside.
Social media reactions were swift and strong. “This should not be normalised, not even as a joke,” commented one user. Another pointed out, “This would be a lawsuit in the US.”
