Maharashtra, September 8, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a weather alert predicting light to moderate rainfall across several regions of Maharashtra on Tuesday, September 9. However, parts of Vidarbha are likely to witness heavy showers accompanied by thunderstorms and gusty winds.

According to the IMD forecast, Kokan and Mumbai region are expected to see reduced rainfall intensity. Districts including Palghar, Thane, Mumbai, Raigad, Ratnagiri, and Sindhudurg may receive moderate showers.

In western Maharashtra, light rainfall is predicted in Pune, Kolhapur, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur, with moderate rain likely over the ghat areas of Pune, Kolhapur, and Satara.

The Marathwada region is likely to experience scattered light to moderate rain along with thunder in Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur, and Dharashiv districts.

In north Maharashtra, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, and Ahmednagar are expected to receive light to moderate rainfall. After several days of heavy downpour in this belt, the intensity is now easing.

The Vidarbha region is under a stricter watch, with heavy rainfall predicted in Bhandara, Chandrapur, Gondia, Gadchiroli, and Nagpur districts. These areas have been placed under a yellow alert due to the possibility of thunderstorms and strong winds. However, no warnings have been issued for Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Washim, and Yavatmal.

Overall, the weather department has advised citizens, especially in heavy rain-prone districts of Vidarbha, to remain alert and take necessary precautions. While parts of Konkan, western Maharashtra, and Marathwada will receive lighter spells, Vidarbha remains the main focus for potential weather disruptions.
