Mumbai, September 19, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 20 districts in Maharashtra warning of heavy to very heavy rainfall on Saturday, September 20. The weather disturbance has been triggered by a trough formation along the Telangana-Vidarbha border, leading to widespread rainfall across the state.

Mumbai and Konkan

Mumbai city and suburbs are expected to witness cloudy skies with light to moderate showers by evening. The maximum temperature is likely to hover around 30°C, while the minimum may remain close to 24°C. Parts of Konkan could also see moderate rainfall, though no official alert has been issued for the region.

Western Maharashtra

Districts including Pune, Satara, Sangli, and Solapur have been placed under a yellow alert. The IMD has warned of thunderstorms, lightning, and winds gusting between 30–40 kmph along with heavy rain.

Balwadkar

North Maharashtra

Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, and Ahmednagar are also under alert, with the possibility of intense rainfall at several locations.

Marathwada

Except for Hingoli and Nanded, the rest of Marathwada—Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Beed, Dharashiv, Parbhani, and Latur—are on yellow alert. The region may experience thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds along with heavy showers.

Vidarbha

In eastern Vidarbha, Nagpur, Chandrapur, Wardha, Bhandara, Gondia, and Gadchiroli are likely to receive heavy rainfall.

Outlook

According to the IMD, rainfall activity is expected to continue for at least the next four days, with the heaviest spells concentrated over Madhya Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha.
