Weather Alert: Maharashtra on Yellow Alert for 8 October 2025; Heavy Rain Expected in 10 Districts Over Next 3 Days
Pune, 7 October 2025: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 10 districts of Maharashtra on 8 October 2025, warning residents of thunderstorms, strong winds, and moderate to heavy rainfall. The alert comes as the state experiences fluctuating temperatures and unseasonal rains over the past few days.
According to the IMD, South Konkan, South Central Maharashtra, and parts of Marathwada are likely to witness thunderstorms with gusty winds and moderate rainfall. Specifically, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg in Konkan have been flagged for heavy rainfall with a yellow alert.
In Western Maharashtra, districts including Satara, Sangli, Kolhapur, and Solapur are also under yellow alert, while Pune may experience light to moderate rainfall. Northern Maharashtra districts have not been issued an alert, but Ahilyanagar, Nashik, Dhule, Nandurbar, and Jalgaon could see thunderstorms with winds blowing at 30–40 km/h and light to moderate rain.
In Marathwada, Dharmashiv and Latur have been placed under yellow alert, while other districts may witness light to moderate showers. Eastern Vidarbha districts Gadchiroli and Chandrapur are also under yellow alert due to the likelihood of thunderstorms and heavy rain. The remaining districts in Vidarbha may experience light to moderate rainfall.
The IMD noted that maximum temperatures across the state have dropped over the past two days, and the active cyclonic circulation is contributing to moderate to heavy rainfall in many districts. The department predicts that rainfall activity will continue across Maharashtra until 10 October 2025.
Residents are advised to remain cautious, avoid unnecessary travel in affected areas, and follow updates from local authorities and the IMD.
