June 4, 2025 – The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for 26 districts in Maharashtra for June 5, warning of thunderstorms, lightning, and moderate rainfall in several regions of the state. After a brief lull in early June, monsoon activity has picked up once again from June 4.

Rain Likely Across Konkan, Marathwada, Vidarbha and Western Maharashtra

According to the IMD, light to moderate rainfall with gusty winds is expected in parts of Konkan, Western Maharashtra, Marathwada, and Vidarbha. Districts such as Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, and Ratnagiri are likely to receive rainfall on June 5, with all under a yellow alert.

In Western Maharashtra, Pune (including ghat areas), Satara (including ghat regions), Sangli, and Solapur are also likely to witness light to moderate rain.

  • Konkan Region: Mumbai, Thane, Raigad, Ratnagiri
  • Western Maharashtra: Pune, Pune Ghat, Satara, Satara Ghat, Sangli, Solapur
  • Marathwada: Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Dharashiv
  • Vidarbha: Nagpur, Akola, Amravati, Buldhana, Chandrapur, Gadchiroli, Wardha, Washim, Yavatmal
  • Nashik Region: Nashik, Nashik Ghat, Dhule, Jalgaon, Ahilya Nagar

Other Areas With Rain Forecast (No Alert Issued)

Rain is also likely in Palghar, Sindhudurg, Nandurbar, Kolhapur (including ghats), Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, and Latur, though no weather alerts have been issued for these districts.

Meanwhile, Gondia and Bhandara are expected to remain dry and hot, with no rain forecast for June 5.

Precautionary Measures Advised

With thunderstorms and strong winds expected, the IMD has advised residents to:

  • Avoid taking shelter under trees or electric poles during lightning
  • Secure loose outdoor items to prevent wind damage
  • Farmers are advised to plan agricultural activities in line with updated weather forecasts

Authorities have also warned that strong winds could impact trees and power lines, urging citizens to take extra care while stepping outdoors.
