Weather Update: Pune To Experience Cooler Weather In Coming Days, Temperature Drops To 12°C
After a spell of cooler temperatures, Pune and surrounding areas experienced a slight increase in night temperatures due to rising moisture levels from the Bay of Bengal. The minimum temperature in Pune rose to 15.2°C on Thursday, up from 14.6°C the previous day.
According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the temperature spike is attributed to the strengthening northeast monsoon, which brought a cyclonic circulation that pushed moisture into the state. This influx of moisture also caused morning haze due to cooler overnight temperatures. An IMD official explained that moisture is being drawn into Maharashtra from the Bay of Bengal through easterly winds, resulting in hazy conditions.
The temperature increase was observed across key cities in Maharashtra. Pune’s Shivajinagar area recorded a minimum temperature of 14.6°C on Wednesday, which rose to 15.2°C on Thursday. Nashik registered the state’s lowest temperature at 13.4°C on Wednesday, increasing to 13.2°C on Thursday, while Lohegaon saw a minimum temperature of 16.8°C on Wednesday, rising to 17.4°C on Thursday.
The rise in overnight lows is linked to higher humidity levels, which trap heat and prevent temperatures from dropping significantly at night. However, this uptick in minimum temperatures is expected to be short-lived, with forecasters predicting another dip in nighttime temperatures after November 18. Pune residents can expect partly cloudy skies by the afternoon and evening, with hazy conditions in the early morning hours.
The state remains under the influence of changing weather patterns, with both dry and moist conditions shaping its climate as winter approaches. The IMD advises residents to stay updated with the latest weather forecasts for accurate temperature predictions. Cooler nights are expected to return soon, bringing relief to residents who experienced a brief respite from the cooler temperatures.
