WhatsApp Stops Working on These iPhones and Android Models from Today
Users advised to back up chats as Meta discontinues app support on outdated iPhones and Androids.
Starting June 1, WhatsApp will officially stop working on certain older iPhones and Android devices that no longer meet the app’s minimum system requirements. This update was originally expected in May 2025 but has been delayed slightly — giving users a final window to upgrade or prepare.
Why This Change?
Meta (WhatsApp’s parent company) regularly phases out support for outdated devices to improve security, enhance performance, and introduce new features. Older operating systems lack essential security updates, exposing users to potential risks.

New WhatsApp Privacy Features
WhatsApp has introduced several privacy enhancements recently. Users can now prevent others from copying text, images, or videos from chats. The chat lock feature lets users secure individual conversations with a fingerprint, Face ID, or password. Additionally, improvements have been made to disappearing messages, giving users more control over message visibility duration.
