Kalahandi, Odisha — A major corruption scandal has rocked the Odisha bureaucracy after Dhiman Chakma, a 2021-batch Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹10 lakh. The incident took place in Dharamgarh, where Chakma served as the Sub-Collector.

According to the Odisha Vigilance Directorate, Chakma was arrested while allegedly receiving the cash from a local businessman who had reportedly been pressured into paying ₹20 lakh to avoid official action. The complainant, fearing harassment, approached the Vigilance department, prompting an immediate investigation.

A trap was laid, and officials caught Chakma in the act at his official government residence. The bribe money, in 26 bundles of mixed-denomination notes, was counted and stashed in a drawer in his office.
