Will India vs Pakistan Asia Cup Match Go Ahead on September 14? Supreme Court dismisses urgent Plea
Court dismisses urgent plea seeking cancellation after Pahalgam attack and Operation Sindoor
The Supreme Court on Friday refused to urgently hear a petition filed by four law students seeking cancellation of the India-Pakistan T20 match in Dubai on September 14. The petition argued that holding the match after the Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 Indians, and Operation Sindoor against Pakistan-based camps, was against national interest and public sentiment.
A bench of Justices J.K. Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi dismissed the plea, remarking, “What is the need? This is a match, let it happen.” The Court made it clear that there would be no immediate interference in the sporting event. This effectively clears the way for the India-Pakistan clash to take place as scheduled on Sunday, September 14, 2025.
