The winter season’s harshness is becoming evident across Maharashtra, with a notable dip in minimum temperatures over the past two days. Punekars are already expressing their discomfort as the city braces for cooler days ahead.

Currently, cyclonic wind conditions prevail over Comorin and adjoining areas of the Arabian Sea at 0.9 km above sea level. Similar conditions exist in the southeastern Arabian Sea near Kerala. These systems have contributed to cooler temperatures across the northern parts of the country, where minimum and maximum temperatures have dropped by 1–2°C in most regions.

Upcoming Weather Changes in Maharashtra

Dr. Anupam Kashyapi, a retired meteorologist, predicts a gradual rise in minimum temperatures in Maharashtra starting November 23, as wind directions shift. Additionally, a low-pressure area forming over the Southeast Bay of Bengal is expected to bring light rainfall to parts of Maharashtra, including Pune, from the afternoon or evening of November 28. These rains could persist for 3–4 days, affecting South and Central Maharashtra.

Outlook for the Next Few Days

• Temperature Trends: A further decrease in temperatures is anticipated in the immediate term, followed by a gradual rise post-November 23.

• Rainfall Forecast: Light rain expected from November 28 in Pune and nearby regions due to the low-pressure system.

With these developments, residents are advised to prepare for colder mornings and potential rain in the coming days.
