Wrong-Side Driving Causes Concern Across Pune
Pune, January 31, 2025 – Pune’s traffic is famous for its congestion, especially with the large number of two-wheelers, but recently, it is gaining attention for a new issue—wrong-side driving. Citizens across various parts of the city, including Mundhwa, Wagholi, Kalyani Nagar, Baner, and Keshav Nagar, have been caught driving on the wrong side of the road, causing significant safety concerns.
Some other issues that are being highlighted are fancy number plates, tinted windows, bikers without helmets, triple seat riders, and many others.

The issue has gone viral on social media, with multiple photographs and videos circulating online. Netizens have been vocal, criticizing the drivers for their reckless behavior, and accusing Pune’s traffic police of failing to take adequate action against violators. This inaction has led to an increase in such traffic violations, with more drivers choosing to ignore the rules.
Didnt expect a driver of reputed school like Bishop, Pune, driving wrong side with kids being onboard! @PuneCityTraffic – you are completely responsible for incidents if any. As it is you l who promote wrong side driving @CPPuneCity MH-12FC3447@nachiket1982 @VahanScore pic.twitter.com/HonvGM5Okk

Citizens have also taken matters into their own hands, actively reporting wrong-side driving incidents to the authorities. This has prompted the Pune city traffic police to step up efforts and address the issue. However, concerns about the effectiveness of enforcement remain, as the wrong-side driving continues to pose a danger to road safety.
