‘Yahan Bahut Gundagardi Hai…’: Ahmedabad Tourist Alleges Harassment by South Goa Taxi Drivers; FIR Filed Against Three
A woman tourist from Ahmedabad has alleged that she was harassed by local taxi drivers in South Goa after booking an app-based cab for her journey to the airport. In a video she shared online, the woman described her experience and said, “Yahan bahut gundagardi hai” (There is a lot of hooliganism here).
She stated that as soon as her cab arrived, local taxi drivers surrounded it, blocked it from moving, and refused to let her board. They allegedly threatened her and insisted she couldn’t continue her ride. One of the drivers reportedly said, “Madam, aap aage nahi jaa sakti. Police aane do, fir dekhte hain” (Madam, you cannot go forward. Let the police come, then we’ll see what happens).
According to her, she was left with no choice but to walk several kilometres in the rain, carrying all her luggage, to find another taxi. She said she was drenched, physically exhausted, and emotionally drained by the time she reached the airport.
Following the incident, which took place earlier this week, the Colva police registered an FIR against three men identified as Menino D’Silva, Milagres Almeida, and Agnelo Rodrigues, all residents of Betalbatim. Officials confirmed that the case is currently under investigation and further action will be taken based on the findings.

The woman also criticised the resort where she was staying, claiming that even after paying Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000 per night, the staff did not support her and instead tried to mediate with the taxi drivers rather than help her. She further warned future tourists to be cautious, stating, “South Goa ka haal bahut bura hai… cab walo ki monopoly hai, police ki dhamki milti hai. Agar aap tourist hain, toh yahan aake bahut dikkat ho sakti hai.” (The situation in South Goa is very bad… there’s a monopoly by the cab drivers, police threats are made. If you’re a tourist, you could face a lot of trouble here.)
