Pune: A disturbing case has come to light in the Kondhwa area of Pune, where a young woman has accused a man of assault, blackmail, and extortion. The man, identified as 24 year old, a resident of Bharti Vidyapeeth area, allegedly harassed the woman for over a year, pressuring her into marriage, demanding ₹50 lakh from her, and later assaulting her when she refused. He also reportedly sent her obscene photographs to her father in an attempt to threaten and humiliate her.
According to police reports, the two were known to each other previously. The accused allegedly forced the woman into a physical relationship, then began demanding a large sum of money. When she refused to pay, he became violent—verbally abusing her, physically assaulting her, and even biting her arm during one such attack. He threatened to kill her and her family.
In one shocking instance, he allegedly forcibly took her to a temple, where he conducted a fake marriage against her will. Despite this, the woman did not agree to live with him, which led to further threats. He reportedly forced her to pose for nude photographs and sent them to her father as a means of blackmail. The accused also issued repeated threats to harm her family if his demands were not met.
The woman, after enduring this harassment for over a year, finally approached Kondhwa Police Station, where a case has now been registered under various serious charges. Police have initiated further investigation into the matter.
The incident has caused outrage in the city, serving as a grim reminder of the dangers of one-sided obsessions turning violent. Authorities have urged women to report any signs of harassment early, and warned that such crimes will be dealt with sternly.
