Pune: Pune Member of Parliament and Union Minister Murlidhar Mohol announced on Friday that the central government has approved ₹30 crore under the National Disaster Management Scheme to reduce the risk of urban flooding in Pune.

Efforts are underway to ensure that PMC receives the amount from the Maharashtra government at the earliest.”

He added that the civic body has been actively working on monsoon preparedness, including the cleaning of nullahs and drains. Post the merger of 32 villages into PMC limits, 201 waterlogging-prone locations have been identified.
“Of these, work has already been completed at 117 spots. The remaining 84 will be addressed before the monsoon begins,” Mohol stated.
With the monsoon approaching, the focus is now on ensuring swift completion of flood mitigation efforts across the city.
