The tragic incident took place in Nashik’s Adgaon area after the toddler reportedly lost balance while trying to look inside a bucket filled with water in the bathroom.
A heartbreaking accident in Maharashtra’s Nashik district claimed the life of a one-year-old girl after she accidentally fell into a bucket filled with water while playing at home.
The deceased child has been identified as Hindavi Dattatraya Bhosale. The incident occurred on Friday afternoon in the Adgaon area near Adgaon Phata.
According to family members, Hindavi was playing inside the house around 2 pm while other members of the family were busy with household work. During this time, the toddler reportedly entered the bathroom, where a bucket full of water had been kept.
Police officials said the child is believed to have tried peeking into the bucket. However, due to her small size and body balance, she fell headfirst into the water-filled bucket and was unable to come out.
After some time, family members realised the girl was missing and started searching for her. They later found her inside the bathroom bucket, creating panic in the household.
Her father, Dattatraya Bhosale, immediately rushed the child to Vasantrao Pawar Medical College in Adgaon for treatment. However, doctors declared the toddler dead after examination.
An accidental death case has been registered at Adgaon police station, and further investigation is underway.
Doctors said children between the ages of one and two years are particularly vulnerable to such accidents because their heads are comparatively heavier than the rest of their body, making it difficult for them to regain balance or climb out if they fall into water containers.
Experts have advised parents to keep bathroom doors closed, empty buckets and tubs immediately after use, and ensure constant supervision of toddlers inside the house to prevent similar accidents.
