11 fire incidents in two days recorded in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad
The fire accidents in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad during Diwali have dipped this year. With Covid19 pandemic most of the citizens this year were aware of health hazards caused due to burning of the crackers.

Even this year, when the people were advised to celebrate cracker free Diwali, eleven fire accidents have been reported in Pune Municipal Corporation and Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation limits combined by the Fire Brigade.
On speaking with Chief Fire Brigade Officer of PCMC, Kiran Balmukund Gawade, he said, “A total of six fire accidents have been reported in PCMC in the past two days. Our team was prompt to douse the fire caused mostly due to fire crackers.”
Upon being asked about the rise or fall of the fire accidents this year as compared to last year, Gawade said, “This year, lesser number of incidents were reported as compared to last year.”
However, the fire incidents in PMC seem to be on rise as compared to last year during Laxmi Pujan. A total of five accidents were reported due to the fire crackers with most of them occuring on roof tops due to rockets.
Chief Fire Officer of Pune, Prashant Ranpise, said, “The fire accidents due to cracker have increased this year.”
Revealing the locations of accident, Ranpise said, “Terrace of Faraskhana Police Station, Sun Paradise Phase No 2 at Sinhagad Road, Phulwala Chowk at Guruwar Peth, Ganesh Nagar in Yerwada, Baba Garden Hotel at Paud Road.”
