Fire breaks out at building in Mumbai’s Goregaon
In the early hours of Friday, a devastating fire erupted at the Jay Bhavani building near Azad Maidan in Goregaon West, Mumbai. The blaze, which began at 3.05 am, claimed the lives of six individuals, including two minors, while 40 others sustained injuries. Among the deceased were a man, three women, and two minor girls.
Officials from the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) reported that the fire primarily engulfed the ground-floor shops, scrap materials, and several nearby vehicles. Firefighters battled the inferno for over three hours, managing to extinguish it around 6.45 am.
Of the injured, fifteen were rushed to Cooper Hospital, with the conditions of two individuals classified as critical. Additionally, 25 injured victims received treatment at Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray Medical College (HBT) hospital.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade (MFB) deployed an extensive fleet of resources, including eight fire engines, five jumbo tankers, a water tank, a turntable ladder (TTL), and a quick reaction vehicle to aid in firefighting and relief efforts.
