7,000 policemen, 60 mobile tanks on streets for safe Ganesh visarjan amidst Covid19

The Pune Municipal Corporation had made several arrangements for safe immersion by setting up mobile tanks at various places in the city. Over 60 mobile tanks were set up which collected idols from the citizens from 15 ward office areas. The civic body had also distributed ammonium bicarbonate to citizens who opted for home visarjan.
Pune Mayor Murlidhar Mohol said, there were three ways for safe visarjan, home visarjan, mobile tanks and collection centers. And citizens opted for all three and cooperated the civic body. At 277 centers, more than 96,203 kg ammonium bicarbonate was distributed, while 217 mobile immersion tanks (Solid Waste management 60, Corporators provided 84, while Ward offices provided 73).

There are 3540 Ganpati mandals in Pune wherein 3493 idols were installed, while 4,32,548 idols were installed in homes.
On September 19, 2021, 3493 Sarvajanik Ganpati while 4,32,548 Home idols were immersed. 47 Ganpati mandals did not participate in the Ganeshutsav keeping in mind the Covid19 pandemic.
Dr Ravindra Shisave, joint commissioner of Police said that the Pune City Police had urged the ganpati mandals to celebrate the festival in a simple way, keeping in mind the Covid19 restrictions. And many of them supported to the plea. We had concentrated more on the city areas where the majority Ganpati mandals are located and implemented several ways to control the public. Announcements through PA systems, patrolling, Pune Police urged citizens to immerse idols within their homes or at the mobile tanks. The visarjan of the first Manacha Ganpati (Kasba Ganpati) took place at 1.37 PM, while other followed thereafter and completed it by 18.38 pm. 173 home guards, 323 police sub inspectors, 3603 police staff, 74 Police inspectors, 15 Assistant Commissioner of Police, 10 Deputy commissioner of Police, 3 Additional Commissioner of Police and one SRPF company looked after the entire immersion in Pune from September 10 -19, 2021.
