76-Year-Old Woman Found Burnt In Kothrud Apartment; Pune Police Investigate
Pune: A 76-year-old woman was found burnt to death in her Kothrud apartment on Monday morning, prompting an investigation by the Pune police. Authorities suspect it may be a case of self-immolation, but they are examining all possible angles.
The deceased, identified as Kamal Sampatrao Ghuge, was discovered after the fire brigade responded to a fire alert at Guru Ganesh Nagar around 8:30 am. Upon arrival, the fire team found her charred body inside the first-floor apartment.
When the fire officials reached the spot they found the elderly woman lying in a severely burnt condition. However, there was no fire elsewhere in the apartment, so no firefighting was needed. Also, the apartment door was open and that Ghuge lived alone in the rented residence.
Following the incident, a team from Kothrud police station arrived at the scene. Police are conducting an investigation in the incident.
