8 Dead After Hot Air Balloon Carrying 21 Passengers Catches Fire in Brazil | Video

A horrific hot air balloon accident in Brazil’s southern Santa Catarina region left eight people dead and 13 others injured on Saturday. The balloon, which was carrying 21 passengers, suddenly caught fire mid-air and crashed to the ground.
Emergency responders from the Santa Catarina military fire brigade rushed the injured to nearby hospitals.
“We are all shocked by the accident involving a balloon in Praia Grande this Saturday morning. Our rescue team is already on site… So far, we have confirmed eight deaths and two survivors,” said state governor Jorginho Mello in a statement on X.
A chilling video shared on social media shows flames and smoke erupting from the balloon while still airborne. Moments later, the balloon begins to deflate and plummets to the ground.
This incident follows a similar tragedy just a week earlier in São Paulo state, where another balloon crash claimed the life of a 27-year-old woman and left 11 injured.
